
Gordon Ramsay has indeed come to Los Angeles to take care of The Burger Kitchen. Daniel is absolutely at the end of his rope, and he doesn’t have anyone to lean on. However, his father, Alan, does not treat Daniel like an equal partner. The environment is extremely chaotic and is a train wreck and a half according to some of the servers.ĭaniel did not picture himself working in Burger Kitchen, but the cards have been dealt and he wants to make things a success. It’s hard to be belittled every day, and so for the chefs to come to work is almost unbearable. There is a lot of tension and aggression in the family, which usually trickles down to the employees. There are three chiefs and four Indians in the kitchen, the staff frequently jokes. The kitchen all agrees that Burger Kitchen is mismanaged by a dysfunctional family. Alan is buying dry, frozen meat and insisting that it’s good while it is not. Customers have complained about the food being served dry. The meat is frozen and is taken out from the freezer. Alan has now had to change their standard burgers all to Australian Wagyu. However, Daniel feels that his father is not running Burger Kitchen well. Because of that, Alan is absolutely invested in making the business work. There was money in the trust account, and Alan took $250,000 of that money to start the restaurant. So, Alan took the money from his son, Daniel.ĭaniel was dragged into the business since he received a sizeable inheritance from his grandfather. He figured that he would try and get into a hamburger restaurant, but they did not have the money to open the best restaurant in Los Angeles.

He’s eaten meat all his life in hundreds of different steak restaurants. Alan has always had the dream to run a restaurant because he’s always enjoyed meat. In 2010, Alan and Gen Saffron opened a restaurant called The Burger Kitchen. Third Street in Los Angeles is a young, hip neighborhood known for trendy shops and neighborhoods.

I live outside Dublin so have not been back in the city centre to complain in person. I’ve tried in vain to find contact details re making a complaint to the franchise owner. I appreciate it was Christmas Eve but I did ring in advance and I did make a booking which should have been honoured. No attempt at Christmas cheer and no smiles from the wait staff. No attempt was made to apologise for the unwelcoming, dark and dingy welcome. Not a problem when the food is good but unpalatable when the food is poor. When paying I told her our chips had been cold, she asked if I wanted the chef to reheat them and put them in a takeaway box!! I refused and paid the almost €50 for 3 burgers, chips and three soft drinks. No one checked if we were happy with our food. I was worried my chicken might not be fully cooked. When I asked her what was the point in letting us sit at a table if they were closing she maintained we could order and eat by 5, so we immediately placed the order which arrived at 4.50. I was tempted to walk out but knew the only other restaurant open would be McDonald’s. At this point other people were arriving and then sent packing, with loud muttering from the staff on duty that they had lives too and had to be out of the restaurant by 6 to jump in a taxi and get home. I explained that when I made the booking I was told to leave by 8. in approx 20 mins!! I was very shocked by her dismissive attitude.

The server stated we would have to vacate the table by 6, I said ok we won’t be here that long, then once seated she stated we had to leave by 5pm i.e. The place was pretty deserted surprisingly given that it was Christmas Eve.

So in the middle of biblical monsoon rain we arrived at the restaurant on time. I said no problem we’ll be there at 4.30pm, 3 people. to try GBK Temple Bar, gave them a ring, the girl who answered the phone went off to check then came back to the phone and said yes no problem once you leave by 8pm. However when I rang them on dec 23rd o reserve a table for Christmas Eve (after a planned family day shopping with my teenage daughters) they were’t taking bookings. I’ve eaten in GBK south Anne street many times, always a fantastic experience.
